Steve supports poultry producers in the South East and spends time in the office managing commercial matters.
Steve qualified from Hadlow College in 1995 and promptly joined, Barradale Farm Ltd. He worked for a year in the West Country on a 30,000 free-range site, then moved to West Sussex running a 30,000 free-range poultry site for a further 4 years. Barrodale Farms had close to 800,000 birds and supplied the London trade directly, including Buckingham Palace and Harrods.
When Barradale Farm Ltd. was sold, Steve moved to a local feed compounder and after three years, Humphrey Feeds and Pullets was delighted to have Steve join their team in 2003.
Steve’s entire working experience has been in poultry where his passion and professionalism for this sector is clear to all and he is a highly respected member of the team.
"Steve has extensive poultry experience, learning initially from his father who was the director of an egg laying business. Twenty years ago he started his professional life running a free range farm, and has been amassing knowledge and sharing best practice with his customers ever since.
Outside of work, he is a keen enthusiast of all country pursuits."

Alison joined us in December 2019 and supports our producers in the mid South West.
Alison has spent much of her career working in poultry, and during that time has built up an extensive knowledge base across a broad range of areas from bird welfare, vaccinations, red-mite and disease control, to field management and optimising productivity.
Alison joins us from St David’s Poultry Team, where she spent 10 years as a Technical Field Advisor. Prior to that Alison was an Area Field Manager with Lloyd Maunder where she managed organic broiler production across 45 sites in the West Country.
Outside of work Alison has a creative streak enjoying up-cycling junk and improving the large garden she has created. When time allows, horse riding, walking and anything involving the countryside, particularly Exmoor, are her pastimes.
“Alison has already brought bags of enthusiasm and knowledge to our field team and we are delighted that she has joined us. Her experience of different production systems and disease control is outstanding, two particularly hot issues for our industry, and I know her energy and ‘can-do’ attitude will be of real benefit to our customers in the West Country.”

DDI: 01962 764522

University seems a long time ago, but Martin left Newcastle with a degree in Agricultural and Food Marketing. After a stint as an accountant, Martin joined the family business swapping a pin-stripped suit for a shovel, and started work on our broiler farms. He ran a site for nearly a year before moving to work on two laying farms.
Martin then moved to the feeds business which was largely integrated, supplying predominantly company farms and a few friends. Martin's focus was production, raw material purchasing and formulations. He took on the sales activity, developing the team of experienced poultry specialists that are now supporting customers across the south of the UK.
Martin, is now focused on the sales side of the feed business, and more recently has taken on the responsibility of Humphrey Pullets, which he loves, as it takes him back closer to his poultry production routes.
Martin has been co-opted to sit on the NFU Poultry Board and the BFREPA committee.
